Project day together! January 28th

Here’s a great way to beat the January blahs!

Join your fellow SOFAAR members for a relaxed afternoon plying your needles and hooks in a social setting on January 28, 2 to 4 p.m. at St Alphonsus Hall in Bridgetown.

Bring your latest project (or a UFO you’ve been meaning to finish) and knit, hook, stitch, spin or otherwise play with fibre. There’ll be no business meeting, no pressure; just a chance to sit and stitch.

There are lots of tables and electrical outlets if you want to bring a machine or extra light and washrooms and a kitchen handy if you need a cup of tea.

Feel free to bring a fibre friend. There is no charge for the event, but a small donation ($2) to help offset hall rental costs is requested.

Where:                St Alphonsus Catholic Church – 93 South Street, Bridgetown.
(See map, attached)

When:                  January 28, 2 – 4 p.m.

Some Conditions Apply:

Here’s your “small print” warning of conditions that apply to this offer: In the event of a major snow storm, the event will be cancelled. It will also be cancelled should a funeral be scheduled for that date.

If we have to cancel, we will post the cancellation notice on our SOFAAR  website (www.SOFAAR.caand our Facebook page.

We hope to see you there.

AR Celebration Tartan

SOFAAR member and graphic designer Kim Gunn has created the Annapolis Royal Celebration 2017 tartan!

This tartan has been endorsed by the town of Annapolis Royal and is officially registered with the Scottish Registry of Tartans.

Gunn designed this tartan “in honour of the Town of Annapolis Royal and its rich heritage to celebrate Canada’s 150th” according to Jane Nicholson of AIRO who helped out Kim with a financial contribution.

Kim says the tartan was inspired by “the seasonal colours of the North Mountain, the Annapolis River and Bay of Fundy as well as the lush green landscapes, lupins and red soil”.

The tartan will be available in time for Tartan Day on April 6th, 2017.

(information for this posting thanks to Larry Powell of the Annapolis Spectator)

December members’ social gathering December 7th

All SOFAAR members are invited to attend a “social” on Wednesday, December 7th from 6 to 8 pm in Annapolis Royal.

This social gathering is a simple invitation to meet and great and nibble and drink a bit! And to show and tell…

To put us all in the Christmas mood we invite members, who wish to, to bring along for show and tell a Christmassy (or not!) fibre piece they have made or are making! It can be an ornament, a wearable piece of fibre art (mittens, anyone?) or any kind of fibre work you would like to show off! It doesn’t even have to be Christmassy! Now is your chance.

Our hospitality committee will look after food and drink, so just bring yourself and your show and tell.

If you are not presently a member of SOFAAR, come along and join!

Where :

chez Christine Igot
87 Fortier Mills Lane (behind the Fire Hall)
Annapolis Royal

When:

Wednesday, December 7th from 6 to 8 pm

In order to give us an idea of how many members would be attending, please RSVP to: info@sofaar.ca
