Third annual Fabulous Fall Fibre Retreat

28 ladies and one gentlemen enjoyed our third annual Fabulous Fall Fibre Retreat at the Hillsdale House Inn in Annapolis Royal this past weekend.

Lots of laughs and well-deserved down time for project work punctuated with walks, shopping, sipping and show and tell.

Retreaters enjoyed the Saturday Farmers and Traders market, the SOFAAR exhibit at ARCAC, the O’Dell museum crazy quilt exhibit and so much more.

We will be keeping you posted for 2020!

Retreat room available

A lovely room at the Hillsdale House Inn has become available for our Fabulous Fall Fibre Retreat coming up the weekend of September 27th.

If you are interested, please contact Christine Igot through info@sofaar.ca.

If the room is not taken, this would allow for two more day stitching spots!

Please see earlier web posts about the Retreat or contact us directly.

SOFAAR: Small Treasures exhibit

Our Small Treasures exhibit at the Mym gallery at ARCAC in Annapolis Royal runs from September 8th to October 12th.

Be sure to check out these small stitched, knitted, crocheted, beaded, embroidered, and hooked pieces over the next month.

Below is a sneak preview of pieces you will see. Of course, you need to see them close up at the gallery!

Broach Approach workshop

Thirteen participants attended Sam Norgard’s “Broach Approach” beading workshop sponsored by SOFAAR on Sunday, August 11th.

We all came away having learned peyote stitch, brick stitch and stack stitch along with information on beading threads and needles and supplies.

Now, we must all finish our  broaches for a future show and tell!

World Embroidery day demo: July 30th

Tuesday, July 30th, is World Embroidery Day and we are going to celebrate!
From 1 to 3 pm we will be out in force to demo all kinds of stitching.

The Courtyard store at 212 St-George St in Annapolis Royal has graciously accepted to host us outside if the weather is fine.

If the weather is not fine, we will gather in the market square under the protection of the stalls.

Please bring a project to work on and some pieces for show.

If you can bring your own chair, that would be wonderful.

We would love to see you there.

World Embroidery Day began in 2011 with the Swedish Embroiderer’s guild. You can read the manifesto here with this link.
